  My Profile

2009

Hi all, I feel this need to update my profile since a significant part has changed. I have graduated from NTU and am now one of the drones of one of the big four audit firms. haha. As such, my time is more squeezed now, however, I am still in pursuit of all that I have set out to do in 2007 with my studio.

I am thankful that the studio has seen its share of good recordings with thumbs-up singers and I am glad to have met talented artistes, worked with them as well as collaborated on projects. I have managed to help in the completion of a CD  2008 - 2009 for a church, did a few commercial recordings as well as a few film audio recordings. I've helped worked on the development of some songs, entered into the world of rap, taught to a few as well as learnt from a few. =) I've met the young (the youths), the really young (kids), the senior, chinese, malays, indians, filipinos, burmese, american etc.

Its a shame that I am unable to put up all the recordings online, some due to copyright reasons and others due to confidentiality reasons. Looking back, seeing that I am actually doing my passion only part time, I am really glad to still be able to experience much and have a big demographic of clients. I will be focusing more on my own church production from now as it has been delayed with regrets due to many other commitments over the years as I placed meeting you guys first (no regrets there though =) ).

I am still looking forward to my next project and i will try to accommodate my time the best that I can. See you guys in the studio and give me a holler sometimes in my guest book below. Cheers~

2007

Hi, I am Terence and am currently an undegraduate at NTU studying for my accounting degree while holding a diploma in audio engineering from School of Audio Engineering (SAE) at bencoolen street. I am born in 1985 and have been interested in music since young. I am familiar with the piano, drums, guitar, violin and learnt a little bass and saxophone. As with the problem of diversification, I am sad to say I have not mastered any instruments at a very high level yet and dare to only say I can do okay with the piano, guitar and drums. The rest I know enough to help me in my studio recording. =)  One thing I am very grateful about what an audio engineer does is that they get to interact and meet with many skilled musicians and many a times it is my pleasure to record their songs or just to listen to them perform in front of my mic.

  My Home Studio

The reason for me having this home studio is to have a way to learn, meet people, make friends, listen and help make great music. There is never an end to an audio engineer's learning. There is always new technology, new recording methods, new gear, or skilled musicians who can get "the sound" which an engineer may never get unless he knows and masters the instrument. If you are a band starting out, a song writer or composer, or even a skilled musician or a seasoned player or whoever you are, we could be friends~ I can learn from you or maybe even vice versa. I am always willing to learn new things if you guys are willing to teach.  If things work out and I have recorded enough material of you, I can even put a page about your band or you here with your songs. Don't get me wrong, I take pride in my work and will be professional about doing it. I just don't see why I cant make friends who are into music at the same time.

  My Influences

My main influences are pop, chinese pop and rock and the radio stations I listen to are 93.3, 98.7 and 98.0.  You could check out the recordings page to hear some of the stuff I have recorded.

  My Thoughts

I take my work seriously and am professional about doing it. Although I am running the studio part time, It is my passion and I take the art form seriously. Every session and interaction with people increases my knowledge and experience. Furthermore, I have a diploma from SAE and am fully qualified as an audio engineer. The reason why I can offer audio services at such low rates is mainly because audio engineering is my passion and not my means for survival. I do not have to charge at a rate to bring food to the table everyday. Besides, since the studio is not my means of survival, I can make non cost recuperating purchases for studio gear (check out My Gear) and I can assure you if you do know recording gears and brands, mine is definitely not sub par. I have industry standard softwares (including melodyne voice editor), tube mics, full drum set with AKG 7 piece drum mics and my favourite, proudest purchase - The SolidStateLogic DUENDE PCI =). Haha okie sorry but I just couldn't resist doing that since I may be the only home studio out there to own a piece of SSL. haha =)   Besides being an audio engineer, I am also a musician, which is also why I am able to offer services such as adding of harmonizations to vocals which requires some theory knowledge. I respect musicians who know their instruments and are able to produce the sound that they want. Such people know what they are doing.  Hey if you haven't found your sound yet, we can always try it out in the studio.~
