(I hope experienced recording musicians will bear with some of the content of my site as it is catered to students and most of them have yet to have done a recording before, so I may over elaborate on some details)
Some procedures...
Some simple information... My studio is a home studio, as the name implies, its in my home. haha. =)
There are three stages in creating a song. Recording, Mixing and Mastering. Each needs an almost equal amount of time
Only at the recording stage will the musicians be needed unless special request by the musician to stay back for mixing stage
Recording style will be mainly multi-tracking, meaning to record one by one unless the instrument is pure line-in to prevent spillage
Direct mic-ing methods will be used for recording
Usually the instrument that provides the main rhythm of the song goes first
If the instruments are line in only, several instruments can go at once
1 standard song should take a minimum of about 2 hours
We can take several sessions to complete a song (different days) if required. The standard per hour rate is charged for each continuing session, only the first day first hour is charged at a higher rate
Some gentle reminders... Please do make sure that the song to be recorded is very well prepared before coming down for recording as it shortens the time spent in the studio and lowers the costs
Please don't be late or bail out on agreed times as it will be unfair to those who had wanted that time slot. I am doing this part time so my available time is not much, please help me out here =)
